Use the 1st number of California MegaMillion Lotto from Tuesday, Oct 21, 2008 , to determine the date from which we take the Daily 3 Evening numbers. For example, if the 1st number is 10, we will start taking the Daily 3 numbers from 10 days before the day we do the drawing, i.e. Oct 21, 2008, and continue taking numbers from the previous days until all drawings are done. Past results can be obtained from http://www.calottery.com/Games/dailythree/winningnumbers/dailythreeeve.htm.
The assignment scheme works as follows. For every team, the Daily 3 number mod 2 determines its group (Group A = 0; Group B =1). For an example, if the daily 3 number mod 2 is 0 for LA Reds FC is 0, the team will be in Group A, otherwise Group B.
The draw stops when one group is filled with 4 teams and rest of the un-assigned teams will be automatically in the other group.
Group game order. The order of the group games will be randomly (daily 3 mod by 6) selected from the following 6 possibilities.
Substitution. There are no restrictions on the number of substitutions. And it's OK for a player previously substituted out to be substituted back in.
Red and yellow cards.
A red card, whether issued directly or accumulated through two yellow cards during the same game, will result in a combination of ejection of the player involved from the ongoing game, at least one game suspension (expulsion from the tournament if fighting is involved).
A yellow card does NOT carry over to the next game.
Power of the referees.
Two licensed referees are hired for each game except teh finals for which 3 referees will officiate. All teams must follow the referees' decision on the field, any violation may result in forfeiting the game and subsequent ejection from the rest of the tournament.
Center referee, i.e. the referee in charge, has the FINAL say on any play during a game and can NOT be overridden even by the ruling committee.
Player equipment.
All players must wear shin-guards.
Player Qualification Rules
To qualify, a player must look like Chinese and speak Chinese. If a team is found to have unqualified players, either by the referee or by the opponent team and subsequently confirmed by the ruling committee, any previous games the team has played with disqualified players will be recorded as a loss as forfeiture, the team deposit will be confiscated, though the team may continue to play in the tournament based on adjusted status without disqualified players.
Players MUST be on one and only one team's during the tournament. Violation of this rule will result in the forfeiture of all games played by the offending team.
General Description. Cal Cup 2008 will have a group stage on the first day followed by an elimination phase on the second day.
Group Stage- Saturday, Oct 25. The eight teams will be divided into two groups of 4, with each team playing 3, 70min games with 5 minute intermission.
FIFA pointing system will be used-- with 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw and 0 for a defeat.
The ranking of each team in each group will be determined in the order of the following FIFA compliant rules.
greatest number of points obtained in all group matches;

greatest number of goals scored in all group matches. If two or more teams are equal on the basis of the above three criteria, their rankings will be determined as follows:
greatest number of points obtained in the group matches between the teams concerned;
goal difference resulting from the group matches between the teams concerned;
greater number of goals scored in all group matches between the teams concerned;
drawing of lots by the Ruling Committee for Cal Cup 2008.
Playoff Stage. Sunday, Oct 26. The top 2 teams from each group play for championship, while the bottom two teams play for consolation cup. All games in playoff stage are 90min with 15 minute intermission. If a game ends in a tie, the two teams will go directly to PK-- there will be no overtime period.
Each team is guaranteed 3 games on Saturday and at least 1 playoff game on Sunday.
